Vanessa's Blue and White Meet is an intrateam meet that also serves as both an introduction to swim meets and as a time trial.

There are some big reasons to attend the Vanessa's Blue and White Meet:

Learn the ropes! We highly encourage all swimmers and parents new to swim team to participate in this meet so they can see how a meet is run and the importance of all the volunteer roles.

Time trial! Blue and White Meet swim times are not counted for records and are not "official" times, but Blue and White Meet swim times will be used as entry times for the regular meets to help put swimmers in heats more appropriate for them. For swim meets, swimmers are placed in "heats" according to their entry swim times for each event. This way swimmers are in the pool and "racing" against other swimmers with similar swim times and abilities. Those who swim at Vanessa's Blue and White Meet will be timed, and those times will serve as entry times for the regular season meets.

Also, relay teams are formed based on swim times. So, your swimmer must have swim times in order to be considered for placement on relay teams.

It's okay if you cannot attend Vanessa's Blue and White Meet. Without an entry time, your swimmer will still be able to swim in a regular season meet. However, just keep in mind that your swimmer will be placed in a heat with other swimmers who also have no entry time, so they may be racing against others who swim at different speeds. Also, your swimmer would not be eligible to be placed on relay teams for the regular meets.
