Practice Weather Guidelines

Hey Sharks,

Last week we had a couple of practices cancelled due to weather and it looks like we **may** be in for some storms this week as well. Our weather guidelines for practice are as follows:

1) We will swim in the rain, Sharks love water! However, we cannot swim if there is thunder and/or lightening with in a 10 mile radius.

2) The coaches and I have half a dozen apps that we use to track bad weather, and together we make the call.

3) Once thunder is heard or we are notified via one of our apps that there is lightening within 10 miles we have to pull the kids out of the pool and off of the pool deck for 30 minutes. This timer restarts each time a new clap of thunder or new notification is received.

I know sometimes it is last minute when we make the cancellation call and that can cause a planning problem for parents. Our goal is to give the kids as much opportunity to practice as possible. As we all know, Texas weather can change in a matter of minutes so that makes it tough to make calls early.

I would ask that everyone sign up for our Remind notificationsfollow us on Facebook and/or Twitter and have a valid email address in SwimTopia to stay on top of practice changes.

Lastly, I would ask that if the weather looks bad please stay with your kid at the pool instead of dropping them off, just in case!

If you have any questions please let me know.
