From 183 turn West on Lake Creek Drive. The second stop sign is School House and the pool is on the Northwest corner. You may park in the church parking lot South of the pool. Please do not park in front of any driveways or mailboxes or on the bridge.
ADDITIONAL MEET NOTES
Parents: Please make sure your swimmer notifies the team parent if they leave the tent during a meet. There were a few problems locating swimmers in time to get to the ready bench last weekend. The team parents cannot leave to go searching for missing kids - so your help in ensuring your swimmer is in the tent when he/she should be is greatly appreciated!

SWIMMER HIGHLIGHTS
Our Sharks had 231 time improvements this past meet. On the Invitational Qualifier front, 19 swimmers had new invitational qualifying swims in 25 events. Of the swimmers with new invitational swims, 8 were first-time qualifiers - way to go Sharks!

End-of-Season Banquet Online RSVP Now Available
Date: Monday, July 9
Location: Balcones Country Club Clubhouse
Dinner: 6 pm
Awards Ceremony: 7 pm
Reservations for the banquet will be taken online only. We are requesting that all families RSVP for this event, even if you cannot attend to help us with facilities planning. There will be trophies for all the swimmers, special awards, fond farewell to the seniors, cake, and the much anticipated Shark multimedia presentation featuring all our great swimmers and coaches. For those wishing to join us for dinner before the awards ceremony, a pizza buffet is available for purchase which includes pizza, salad bar, tea and lemonade. The price for the buffet is a flat $7/person for ages 3 and over. The deadline to reserve and pay for the optional dinner buffet is Wednesday, July 4.
Divisional Meet - Important Info
The Divisional Meet is on Saturday, July 7. All 12 teams in the Northwest Swim Circuit will be competing in one of 4 divisional meets that day. We are in Division 2, competing against the Cedar Park Typhoons and Brushy Creek Marlins. All BCC Sharks swimmers are eligible to swim at the Divisional meet as long as the swimmer has participated in at least 2 dual meets. We will contact families who have swimmers who have not meet this requirement; there are just a couple of swimmers in this situation. Another rule is a swimmer must have a time in an event to be entered in that event at Divisionals.
Besides having 3 teams instead of 2 in the meet, there are also some other differences between a divisonal meet and a dual meet. Those differences are summarized below:
- The deadline for reporting any swimmer meet absences is stricter since we have to send off our entries to the host computer person in advance, taking the July 4 holiday into consideration. The deadline for reporting meet absences is Sunday, July 1. PLEASE check your calendars and use the web link at www.bccsharks.org to report a meet absence for Divisionals as soon as possible. If an emergency comes up after this deadline, we would appreciate you notifying us as soon as possible before the day of the meet.
- The scoring system will be different that in dual meets. In dual meets, place ribbons are awarded to 1st through 3rd place in relays and 1st through 10th place in individual events. Team points for a relay are as follows: 1st - 5 points, 2nd - 3 points, and 3rd - 1 point. Team points for individuals are: 1st - 4 points, 2nd - 2 points, and 3rd - 1 point.
- At a NWSC Divisonal meet, relay events medals and team points are awarded as follows: 1st - 9 points, 2nd - 7 points, 3rd - 6 points. Place ribbons and team points are awarded as follows: 4th - 5 points, 5th - 4 points, 6th - 3 points, 7th - 2 points, 8th - 1 point.
- At a NWSC Divisonal meet, individual events medals and team points are awarded as follows: 1st - 9 points, 2nd - 7 points, 3rd - 6 points. Place ribbons and team points are awarded as follows: 4th - 5 points, 5th - 4 points, 6th - 3 points, 7th - 2 points, 8th - 1 point, 9th - 0 points, 10th - 0 points, 11 - 0 points, 12th - 0 points.
- A permanent NWSC Divisional Meet trophy is be awarded to the top team in each division. Trophies shall be awarded to the overall first place high-point swimmers and plaques to the second and third place high-point swimmers.
Invitational Meet - Important Info
If your swimmer has one or more qualifying times in his or her age group events, you may elect to participate in this year's NWSC Invitiational meet. Participation is optional, but encouraged. You can check the website under the Meets page to check the list of the current BCC Sharks invitational qualifiers by both name and event.
The Invitational meet will be held at Texas Swim Center at UT on Sunday, July 8. The meet start time is 11 am (with warms up around 9:30 am). Unlike our other meets, you will need to fill out a online registration form to enter your child to swim at the Invitational meet. The cost is $4/event. An online form is on the website and will provide further instructions on sign up and payment. Entries and payment will be due by Monday, July 2 by 8 pm. The online form is now available at: www.bccsharks.org/invitiationals/invitational_form.html. There is also a link on the website home page.
Please read the following CAREFULLY to understand how to choose your swimmers events:
A swimmer can only sign up for 3 events in which he/she has a qualifying time. Once up to 3 events have been chosen, you CANNOT change them after 8 pm on Monday, July 2. Your swimmers have the Anderson Mill meet on June 30 to qualify for more events and still sign up for events before the deadline.
There are special provisions in place for late qualifiers at the Divisional meet on July 7. If a swimmer qualifies for a new event at the Divisional meet that he or she previously did not have an Invitational time, then only that event can be added late. Events qualified for at the Divisional meet can be added up to 30 minutes after the Divisional meet ends and only if the swimmer does not already have 3 events.
For example, your swimmer qualifies in 25 Free and 25 Fly before the Divisional. You can sign up for those events. If your swimmer then qualifies in 25 Back at the Divisional meet, you can add that event. However, if your swimmer qualified for 25 Free, 25 Fly and 25 Back and you turned in your registration before the Divisional meet for those 3 events, you cannot add your swimmer's new event or exchange it for a previous one. Likewise, if your swimmer signs up for only 2 events with the hope of qualifying for something new at Divisionals, the swimmer can only add the new event if qualified. You cannot go back and retroactively add an event previously qualified to make 3 events - no exceptions! We strongly suggest that you pick 3 events by July 2 if you have 3 or more by then and don't gamble.
The NWSC Invitational Ranking Report of all current Invitational Qualifiers from all circuit teams will be posted on the website late Sunday night (July 1) if we receive it back from the Circuit computer person in time. Please check this report and verify that your swimmer is eligible for all the events you believe he/she has qualified for. You can also use this report to help your swimmer decide which events to enter. There will be a link on our home page to view the Ranking Report once it is available. THE DEADLINE APPROACHES!!!!
Don't be left out of the T-Shirt Design Contest! It is your chance to be famous! Turn in your designs at the Anderson Mill meet. The contest will be held the following week.
Some of our girl swimmers had a great idea at the last meet - why not bring paper to do a T-shirt design for our contest during those extra long minutes between swims? Remember, put your name on a cover sheet or on the back, not on the front. Details are on the website.
HELP! The Shack needs your help during meets. Please bring a few one dollar bills or fives for those smaller purchases. We can only take so many twenties before we run out of change!

Swim Lessons |

The BCC Sharks coaching staff provides private swim lessons for a reasonable fee to any Shark swimmers that are interested in getting extra help outside of the regular team practice times.
The BCC Sharks Swim Team is not involved in managing nor receives any proceeds from the swim lesson program. As a benefit to our coaching staff, Balcones Country Club does allow their pools to be used for the private swim lessons.
Any arrangements for private swim lessons is strictly between the coaching staff and families. Any questions, concerns or comments should be sent directly to Grant Kessler at grant@bccsharks.org, the swim lesson coordinator for 2007. |

REMINDER: No practice on Wednesday, July 4 in observance of Fourth of July.
Interested in becoming more involved with the team leadership? We will have new and open committee chairperson positions, in addition to at least one Board position, to fill for next year. Chair positions are a seasonal commitment and Board positions are a year-round commitment. If you are interested, please contact president@bccsharks.org and someone will get back to you.
Note from the Coaching Staff: If for any reason your swimmer cannot stay until the end of a swim meet (add an hour after the expected end time), you MUST inform one of the Head Coaches (Grant or Daren) as soon as possible so they can make relay adjustments. Otherwise we expect all swimmers to be present for the relays (even if your swimmer is not on the published heat sheet) unless a Head Coach has told you it is OK to leave the meet. The exception is the 6 & Under swimmers who do not swim in the afternoon relays.
Individual Photos and More: Be sure and check out the Photos web page for the 'Individual Photos and More' photo album. Every swimmer's individual photo at Photo Day, Make Up Photo day, and at various meets are included in this section. You can also find the age group photos and various 2 or more shots (many of siblings) in this folder. If you are interested in ordering prints, the photos that appear a bit on the dark side will be brighter in the printed version.
Shark Swim Clinics Next Week: BCC Sharks Swim Clinics will take place next week on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday - just in time for last minute improvement for Divisionals and Invitationals! Look for sign-up sheets at your practices. Only $10 per day or $25 for all three days. Coaches will be announcing details this week at practices. Any questions?
