5:00 am - Meet prep team arrives
5:40 am - Swimmers deadline to check-in with Team Parent
7:00 am - Meet start time
PARKING
Since we share the parking lot with our golfing friends, SHARKS please park on the street around the clubhouse. Leave parking across the street and close in street parking for our visiting friends. Please refer to the map on the Meets page for the Balcones pool. There is more information regarding parking restrictions.
Parking on Crest Ridge - Park only on the side of the street close to the Balcones Club house that has no houses - DO NOT PARK IN-FRONT OF HOMES ON THIS STREET.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS
· Since we have to arrive earlier at the pool first, it will still be dark. BCC has lights but it can get a bit dark under the tents until the sun comes up! A flashlight can be useful.
· Your child needs to check in with the team parent at the time specified in the meet timeline and be prepared to start warm ups.
· Your child is to stay in their age group tent during the meet or let the team parent know where they are going. Team parents are not responsible for finding your child to go to the ready bench to swim.
· Do not leave the meet (unless you are a 6 and under at half time) without telling a coach! Ask your team parent before you leave if your swimmer is swimming any more events.
· Please make sure your child takes home anything brought to the meet. This includes all of their belongings and any trash they make. We need to be courteous guests and clean up after ourselves. It it not the team parents responsibility to clean up after the kids.

SWIMMER HIGHLIGHTS
Our Sharks had 221 time improvements this past meet. On the Invitational Qualifier front, 19 swimmers had new invitational qualifying swims in 25 events. Of the 19 swimmers, 8 were first-time qualifiers - way to go Sharks!

Online ordering for NWSC Championship T-Shirts now available - The circuit provides 'championship' t-shirts for sale each year. Purchase is completely optional. View the samples of the t-shirt at upcoming Round Rock meet. T-Shirts are $10/each ($12/each for 2XL and 3XL). Orders will be taken online only from now through June 22, 7 pm. Your payment is due to the Shark Shack by the end of the Steiner Ranch Stars meet on June 23. More details on the order form. To order, click the link on the website home page.
Did you receive your team directory? Team Directories were handed out at the Forest North meet. In addition to the family contact information, the team directory also features our corporate sponsors, "Good Luck" swimmer ads, and 2007 T-Shirt Logo entries. If you missed getting yours, look in your swimmer's ribbon box folder on Mondays. A limited supply of additional directories will be available for purchase for $3 at the upcoming meet. Thanks to Brenda and Carl Kessler for producing a fantastic directory for us.
Krispy Kreme Doughnut Card fundraiser - For $10, "Buy One Dozen Any Kind of Doughnut, Get One Free" times 10 punches! The Sharks get $5/back on every card sold. The card does not expire until 12/31/2008. This is a GREAT and easy way to help out the Sharks and at the same time grab a deal on doughnuts. Use your card to purchase snacks for things like Friday snack assignments, meetings, church events, and sleepovers. Ask friends, co-workers, neighbors and family. If you miss purchasing your cards at a meet, send an e-mail to Katie Larson at krispkreme@bccsharks.org. Indicate your name, e-mail, phone, quantity, and swimmer's last name if different. Come to the Fiesta Pep Rally on Friday, June 15th from 6 to 7pm at the Balcones pool. We'll have fun making posters, swimming, and competing in a hoola hoop contest. The coaches will get us fired up with lots of cheers. Be sure to dress for a fiesta and bring your markers, we'll supply the poster board.

Reminders from the Shack: Don't forget to go online to the website and order your NWSC T-shirt for the Divisional Meet. You can bring your payment to the Shack in an envelope with your name on it (check or cash) at the next meet or pep rally.
Some of our girl swimmers had a great idea at the last meet - why not bring paper to do a T-shirt design for our contest during those extra long minutes between swims? Remember, put your name on a cover sheet or on the back, not on the front. Details are on the website.
HELP! The Shack needs your help during meets. Please bring a few one dollar bills or fives for those smaller purchases. We can only take so many twenties before we run out of change!

Swim Lessons |
|
The BCC Sharks coaching staff provides private swim lessons for a reasonable fee to any Shark swimmers that are interested in getting extra help outside of the regular team practice times.
The BCC Sharks Swim Team is not involved in managing nor receives any proceeds from the swim lesson program. As a benefit to our coaching staff, Balcones Country Club does allow their pools to be used for the private swim lessons.
Any arrangements for private swim lessons is strictly between the coaching staff and families. Any questions, concerns or comments should be sent directly to Grant Kessler at grant@bccsharks.org, the swim lesson coordinator for 2007. |
Name Spelling for Trophies |

June Holder & Lucia Lundry, co-chairs for the end of season banquet this year, are in the process of ordering trophies for the team. If there are any spelling errors on the team roster please advise June Holder (by email or phone: 918-2753) by Sunday, June 17th. Since we have over 200 swimmers please include your child's age and your contact info in case there are any questions. It is not necessary to respond if your child's name is accurate. Safety Issues at Spicewood Pool |

The BCC General Manager has pointed out some serious safety concerns regarding swimmers at the Spicewood pool practices. Shark swimmers have been spotted in unsafe situation such as running and rough-housing on the slab outside of the pool, climbing on various clubhouse structures, throwing retrieved range balls at one another and raiding the ice machine in the cart barn for ice fights.
No swimmer should be outside the gated area of the pool before, during or after practice times unless under the supervision of an adult. Swimmers waiting for siblings or a ride home should wait inside the gated area at all times.
We ask that parents be prompt in picking up swimmers to keep the congestion down around the pool. Our coaches cannot police children outside the pool without putting those in the pool at risk so please ensure your swimmers abide by this rule. Thanks! | |
