HOW MEET ENTRIES WORK
For all the Saturday swim meets, we assume your swimmer will be attending the meet and the Coach will enter him/her into individual and relay events. It is your responsibility to notify us if your swimmer will not be at a Saturday meet no later than Monday practice time of that week. We understand that children can get ill later in the week, but any other absences must be declared by Monday; otherwise we will expect your swimmer to show up at the meet. It is extremely disruptive to the meet program if we have "no shows". The website has a link to "Report A Meet Absence", so please use it. You can report absences in advance. We prefer to know no matter how close it is to meet day rather than to be surprised. So please communicate with us.

MEET TIMELINE

6:00 am - Meet Prep team arrives
6:40 am - Deadline for swimmers to checkin with Team Parent
7:35 am - Meet start time

MEET INFORMATION
  • Brushy Creek meet will be held at the Sendero Springs pool. See the website for a map.  The pool is a 25-yard saltwater pool with no conversion factor.
  • Easiest way to get to the pool: East on 1431 from 183 or Parmer to Sendero Springs Rd.  You will pass the Brushy Creek water tower on your right.  Turn in on Sendero Springs road & parking attendants will guide you from there.
  • The Marlins will have parking assistants to direct traffic to their parking areas. Parents will be permitted to unload in front of the pool, but will then have to proceed to the parking areas in the neighborhood. The Marlins warn that parking outside of the designated areas will result in ticket from the Sheriff's office or possibly even towing. Please pay attention to no parking signs, do not block any driveways, and carefully review the map found on our website for directions to the pool and more details regarding parking. You may have to park a significant distance from the pool to allow time walking.
  • Heat Sheet will be available for download on the website on Friday by 5 pm. NO HEAT SHEETS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE AT THE MEET.
  • Your child needs to check in with the team parent at the time specified in the meet timeline above and be prepared to start warm ups. Swimmers who have not checked in on time will be scratched from relay events.  Swimmers who are not present at least 30 minutes before the start of the meet potentially may be scratched from their individual events as well!
  • Your child is to stay in his/her age group tent during the meet or let the team parent know where s/he is going. Team parents are not responsible for finding your child to go to the ready bench to swim.
  • Please make sure your child takes home anything brought to the meet. This includes all of the child's belongings and any trash s/he makes. We need to be courteous guests and clean up after ourselves. It it not the team parents' responsibility to clean up after the kids.

NWSC Swimmer Eligibility Rules
Year-round swimmers (i.e. USA Swimming-registered) who are 12 and under need to take special note regarding NWSC "swim up" rules if you decide to continue with your year-round team for the long course season and also participate on the Sharks swim team concurrently. If your swimmer continues with year-round swimming past May 20, 2007, he or she will only be allowed to swim in the 13-14 age group (i.e. 7-8 boy swimming on another swim team outside of NWSC will have to swim events in the 13-14 Boy age group for Shark meets).

Some examples of year-round swimming clubs in our area include, but is not limited to: Gold, Capital of Texas Aquatics, Anderson Mill Torpedos, Longhorn Aquatics, Lonestar Aquatics, Cedar Park Swimming. This includes both practicing and/or attending long course meets. If you don't want your swimmer to have to swim up, you need to quit/suspend your year-round club ties starting on Monday, May 21, 2007. If your swimmer is going to swim dually on another swim team during summer league season and is 12 years old or younger, please e-mail the coaches (coach@bccsharks.org) and John Cotton, the computer representative (computerrep@bccsharks.org) so your swimmer will be put into the 13-14 events for meets. There is no problem doing this, but we must know before the first meet on May 26!

Snack Volunteers Needed!!
Summer is upon us! We are in need of parent volunteers who would like to provide the snack for your child(ren)'s Friday swim time(s). Our Sharks work hard through July 8th and they look forward to the treat following their Friday practices! Big hits have been: Krispy Kreme Donuts, popcicles, cookies and Jello treats.

We do not have volunteers this Friday for the several groups.
If you can help out please contact Jen Clitheroe at jclitheroe@austin.rr.com or 231-0917, for a head count.
Swim Lessons
The BCC Sharks coaching staff provides private swim lessons for a reasonable fee to any Shark swimmers that are interested in getting extra help outside of the regular team practice times. The BCC Sharks Swim Team is not involved in managing nor receives any proceeds from the swim lesson program. As a benefit to our coaching staff, Balcones Country Club does allow their pools to be used for the private swim lessons. Any arrangements for private swim lessons is strictly between the coaching staff and families. Any questions, concerns or comments should be sent directly to Grant Kessler at grant@bccsharks.org, the swim lesson coordinator for 2007.
Individual and Team Photo Day
There will be no swim practice on Wednesday, June 6, to allow for individual and team photos to be taken at the Balcones pool. Please have your swimmer at the pool and "photo ready" at the arrival times shown by age group. Each swimmer needs to wear this year's team suit and this year's team t-shirt. The photo time by age group is listed. Keep in mind this is just a guideline and the sessions could run longer or shorter so it's advisable to have someone stay with your swimmer and not just drop off. Please stay until age group photo is taken.
