Swimmer Ribbons
Are you new to the BCC Sharks and wondering about those colorful ribbons you may have seen? Or are you an experienced Shark swimmer or parent but can't remember how the ribbons are awarded? Look no further, here are your answers:
Ribbons are distributed via two blue file boxes, one containing a file for each swimmer who practices at the Spicewood Pool, and one containing files for the swimmers who practice at the Balcones Pool. The file boxes will be at the pools during practice times each Monday (or the Tuesday after Memorial Day). Swimmers can find their files and get their ribbons at that time. Please, no swimmers reaching into the boxes with wet hands and please do not remove the files themselves-simply remove the ribbons. Ribbons are not distributed during the meets, but instead at the pools on the practice day following the meets. The boxes are only there the first day each week so try to remember to get the ribbons. If you forget, you can send an email to ribbons@bccsharks.org to make arrangements to get your ribbons, or you can pick them up the following Monday.
If your swimmer cannot find their file, send an email to ribbons@bccsharks.org. It may simply be in the wrong box, due to swimmers changing practice locations.
Place ribbons for dual meets are awarded to the order of finish in each event. Ribbons are awarded for places first through tenth for individual events and places first through third for relays. Time improvement ribbons are awarded when a swimmer improves their best time in an individual event. Participation ribbons are awarded to swimmers age 12 and under for any individual event completed without a disqualification that otherwise is not eligible for either a place ribbon or a time improvement ribbon.
